Rome, like many of the companies we invest in, was founded on an Idea. Our mark, the Espontoon, and adopted version of a roman spear, has been a symbol of military leadership for thousands of years, up to and including the American Revolution. The Espontoon was typically carried by a battlefield commander. It was also used to direct troop movement, and as a simple, but highly practical weapon. In addition, Captain Meriwether Lewis carried an Espontoon on the 1804 expedition up the Missouri River, mapping and opening up the west for settlement.
